Our ladies are looking for their forever homes
We believe that the egg is a symbol of what our hens eat and the healthiest and happiest hens, not only make the best eggs, but make producing eggs ethical, sustainable and regenerative.
Unfortunately, we all reach an age where we just don't do things quite as quickly as we use to. Commercial chickens generally start to slow down a little at the age of 18 months.
1 egg every day to 4 eggs a week, makes a difference on larger scales, but that shouldn't mean they don't get to live out their lives scratching, clucking and dust bathing away.
Just because they aren't laying quite as frequently, does not mean they are waste. For us ethical food means finding ways to produce the healthiest, tastiest food without sacrificing our values to earn a extra buck!
Once they start to slow down a little, we are committed to finding each and every one of our hens a new home. We are always on the look out for those who can provide our "older" ladies with a safe, loving home even if its just one or two.
The hens available will vary from 18 to 24 months old. They are still healthy and laying around 4-5 eggs a week. We tend to rehome in waves of 400-500 birds and it generally occurs every 6 months or so.
